PPL Electric Utilities is pleased to announce the launch of the 2nd annual Bright Ideas Energy Efficiency Poster Contest. We’re hoping to encourage students in our Pennsylvania service territory to share their bright ideas about energy efficiency. The inaugural year of the contest was an overwhelming success with over 3,000 entries received and last year’s winners are still on display at The DaVinci Science Center in Allentown, PA.
The teacher’s role is to direct and motivate the students and to submit all student entries, and the child’s assignment is to produce a beautiful, unique interpretation of what energy efficiency means to him or her. The contest is open to all students in Grades K-8 and offers some fantastic prizes for both students and teachers. PPL will select winners in three grade categories: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Each age category will have a grand prize and three finalists, with the following prizes:
$500 savings bond for the student
$500 classroom grant for the teacher
Pizza party for the class
$200 savings bond for the student
Pizza party for the class
The contest will remain open until April 6th. For official rules, entry form, flyer and tip sheet, visit www.pplelectric.com/brightideas. Good Luck!

The shorter, colder days of winter represent a wonderful time for us to appreciate the ever-changing landscape. Explore the beauty and brightness of one of our least appreciated seasons through Luminous landscapes from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at PPL’s Martins Creek Environmental Preserve.
This hands-on art program will inspire us to draw scenes that capture the splendor and unique characteristics of the winter season. Marco Hernandez shares his experience as a professional artist who worked for many years for the American Museum of Natural History as an exhibit designer and fabricator. Materials are provided. This program is free. Click here for directions. Registration is appreciated. For more information or to register, contact me at 570-542-2886 or email@example.com.
