Western Wayne Unveils Digital Tour

On April 23rd, Assistant Superintendent of the Western Wayne School District Clay LaCoe showed off multiple touchscreen digital displays inside the school that were purchased and developed thanks to an Empowering Educators grant from PPL. LaCoe said these monitors “will be mounted throughout the school” to help engage the students, parents and the community. These displays will work together with an interactive walking tour of the school to help students and community members learn more about how the green features of the school.

The EverGreen Eco-Tour will focus on each of the environmentally-friendly aspects of the school. There will be different presentations on the school’s lighting, wastewater treatment, heating and cooling, construction and maintenance and storm water retention. Also included in the tour is a section on future improvements, such as “adding more solar panels,” or possibly installing windmills.

“You just touch something you want to know more about,” said LaCoe, “and the screen will bring up a tutorial” describing how a component of the school works. The interactive nature of the tour has three sections-student, parent and community member-that are tailored to meet the varying curiosities.
