Autism Awareness “Walk”

To celebrate Autism Awareness Month, the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit planned a walk of the trails at PPL’s Montour Preserve. Heavy rains and flooded trails literally put a damper on activities. Although many classes canceled, the ones that did attend were treated to an educational presentation on birds of prey, a look at natural objects through a microscope, and spent time exploring the displays in the Visitors Center. By then the rain had ended and under mostly sunny skies the students finished their outing with a lunch at one of the picnic pavilions overlooking Lake Chillisquaque. Students from Danville High School’s Key Club acted as chaperones to the autistic students.
