PPL’s Holtwood Preserve sponsors Earth Day at Quarryville Library

Join an Earth Day celebration with a musical show sponsored by PPL from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Quarryville Library.

Steven Courtney, who will be playing from 11 a.m. to noon, has performed 5,000 concerts and has garnered the Arpeggio Award for his excellent work with children. Courtney goes beyond entertainment as he weaves positive social behaviors, creativity and imagination into every show. He delights his audiences with all original songs, witty humor, physical comedy and engaging stories. Admission is free, but a ticket is needed from the library for entrance.

At 1 p.m., help celebrate the Quarryville Library’s 10th anniversary. Speakers will talk about its history, and refreshments will be enjoyed in the Carlson Cultural Room. Other activities include the annual planting at the Children’s Garden, where kids are invited to get their hands dirty. In addition, kids can take home seeds for their own yard. Other activities include PPL’s watt board to compare energy-efficient lighting options, a program from ECON-Waste Management on proper ways to recycle with a battery collection, a book sale by the Friends of the Library and a short bird walk by the Lancaster Bird Club. Black Rock Retreat will bring animals.

Additional events include displays from the Friends of Fishing Creek and the Susquehanna Sustainable Business Network. Hands-on activities include face painting, a craft table and the local Girl Scout troop. Food and drinks will be available for sale.

The Quarryville Library is located at 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566. For additional information or tickets, contact Fran or Nikki at the library at 717-786-1336.
