Try flint knapping at PPL Montour Preserve

Knapping is an ancient technique for shaping stone into tools by removing small flakes of stone. It is as much art as it is skill. Join us for this hands-on workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at PPL’s Montour Environmental Preserve.

Ed Wentzler of the Lost Arts Trade Company will explain the theory and technique of knapping. He will also demonstrate flint knapping using simple tools and provide a hands-on experience for participants to try the process.

Space is limited for this workshop so please call 570-437-3131 to register. This free program will take place at the Environmental Education Center. Click here for directions.  For more information, contact the preserve at 570-437-3131 or jdbeam@pplweb.com.
