First signs of spring

After the long snowy winter, it was wonderful to find the first wildflowers already blooming at Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve. We took a nice stroll on the trail searching for the first spring beauties. We where happy to also find Hepatica blooming, one blue and one white. Unfortunately we only had a cell phone camera so the picture quality isn’t so great. There was still snow covering the north side of the facing hill, but this should all wash away with the current rainfall.

With rising temperatures in the forecast, I can’t wait to see what will be emerging.  Come see for yourself. Upcoming Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve programs include:

  • Garlic Mustard Pull on March 27 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Guided tours April 12 at 10 a.m. or April 18 at 2 p.m.

See you on the trail!
