Get certified in hunting

PPL’s Holtwood Environmental Preserve will host the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s three-day, 10-hour hunter/trapper education course Thursday, Sept. 10, through Saturday, Sept. 12.

First-time hunters and trappers must attend all sessions and pass a written exam to qualify for a 2009 license. A certificate of training is awarded to graduates, and this certificate must be presented to initially purchase a hunting or fur-taking license.

The course hours are 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10; 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

Participants must be at least 11 years old. This program is free, but the number of participants will be limited. Preregistration is required. You must register at the Pennsylvania Game Commission Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us or by contacting Game Commission Instructor E.R. Wilson at 717-284-3361. No registrations will be taken by the Holtwood Environmental Preserve.
