Family Fishing Education Day

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Columbia County Bassmasters Association, in conjunction with PPL and the Berwick Borough Community Policing Program, are sponsoring a “Family Fishing Education Day” from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at PPL’s Susquehanna Riverlands.

Families with children ages 8-15 are invited to take part in this fun, hands-on program about fishing. There also will be a special guest visit from McGruff, the Crime Dog. Activities for young children will be offered, although children must be accompanied by an adult. Perimeter tours of the nuclear plant will be offered.

Fishing equipment and lunch will be provided, and prizes will be awarded. Fishing licenses are not required for children under age 16. The program, which is free and great for all ages, will take place at Lake Took-A-While and will be held rain or shine. Space is limited. Registration is required by May 9. For more information or to register, call Mike Monico at 570-752-3223 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
