What a comeback!

april-28-2009_katie_2Pictured here is an eagle’s nest located near our hydroelectric power plant on the Lackawaxen River. This nest was discovered in the fall of 2007. After an unsuccessful year in 2008, we’re happy to report that there are now at least 2 eaglets in the nest. They look to be around 2 weeks old with gray fluffy feathers covering them. Once on the brink of becoming endangered, these amazing birds are making quite the comeback. With more and more nests being found in the Upper Delaware River region as well as around the state, we should easily top 160 nests this year.
