Learn Wilderness First Aid at Montour Preserve

Learn what to do if a friend or family member gets injured and help is not immediately available at a new two-day American Red Cross course being offered in May at PPL’s Montour Environmental Preserve.

Danville Area Red Cross will be teaching the course from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, and Saturday, May 16. The class, “Wilderness First Aid — When Help is Delayed,” is ideal for those who work on farms, camps and other remote locations, as well as boaters, hikers, campers and biking enthusiasts.

Topics will include checking and monitoring vital signs, protecting the patient from the environment, caring for the patient’s physical and mental needs, and transporting the patient

The course, which will include indoor and outdoor activities, will take place at the Environmental Education Center. Participants must be at least 15 years old and should bring a bag lunch.
