Winter’s arrival

deertracksWe, as humans, either love or hate the snow. To deal with winter, we put on extra clothes, take vacations to warm places, or simply enjoy it by playing in it. For animals, the snow presents many new obstacles. Some migrate to warmer climates to escape the cold weather. Others hibernate and sleep soundly till spring. Many mammals grow thicker coats of fur while the snowshoe hair changes color altogether. It turns white in order to blend in with the color of snow. Frogs and turtles become dormant in the mud at the bottom of ponds and lakes. However you deal with winter, it is definitely here to stay for a couple months so make the best of it.
